DSL Defined
|
DSL is a High Speed connection to the Internet that can provide up to 50 times the speed of current 56k modem technology, at a fraction of the cost of comparable services. In addition, DSL uses lines already existing at your location. In fact, you can even talk on the same phone line while you are connected to the Internet.

DSL vs. Cable Modems
|
DSL connections are dedicated. DSL is online 24 hours a day so you never have to be without your connection to the Internet. And, unlike other technologies like cable modems, with DSL you do not share your line with anyone else. This means that when those other connections are congested with users, your DSL connection will still be wide open!

DSL Qualification
|
DSL Service can only be delivered within approximately a 2.5 mile radius of a Telephone Company CO that provides DSL service. The first step we do is a test on your phone line at your location to see if we are able to deliver DSL Service to you. This is called DSL Qualification. We will know within minutes if DSL Service is available to you. In rare cases, further testing may be required to qualify you for DSL that cannot be performed from our office, and manual testing can take up to two weeks to have an engineer come out and test your lines. Once testing is complete we will schedule an appointment for you to have DSL installed.

Getting Hooked Up
|
Once all testing is complete and your location has been qualified, we will schedule an appointment to setup your phone line with DSL. The DSL modem (what you need to use DSL) is mailed to you with instructions, however a fully qualified customer care representative can be reached at 805.544.3299 to assist with your installation. Oh yeah, we have been known to make house calls ;)

Your website, www.yourdomain.name will be served up by Microsoft Internet Information Servers, v5.0. Your top level folder, under which your web accessible files should reside, is 'yourdomain.name'. Your top level html document should be entitled 'index.html'. ASP Scripting functionality is enableded on all web sites. Additionally, Digitalputty's web servers support PERL, CGI, Cold Fusion, VB Script, ASP Script, .net Framework, and MS Access Database support. Please contact us if you require extended ODBC support or any other web hosting needs.

Websites Statistics

Your website statistics are available at http://stats.digitalputty.com. Your Domain Name without the extension is your ServerID ( e.g., digitalputty ). To disable public access and create password protected accounts for viewing statistics simply browse the administrative page once logged into the Statistics Server. You will find a link labeled 'Administration', in red.

FTP Access
|
You may access your website in order to upload content via the FTP Client of your choice. The appropriate ServerName for FTP Access to your Website is ftp.digitalputty.com. A logon will be prepared using the username and password you chose.

Domain Mail Admin
|
You may create up to 20 email addresses and 2 email lists as you would like under your domain name. To create mailboxes, edit mailboxes, mailing lists, etc. simply point your browser at http://mail.digitalputty.com. Logon using your appropriate username at your domain, and password ( e.g., you@yourname.com ). This account name has been given administrative privileges over this domain.
