Microsoft Windows Vista Dial Up Networking
This tutorial is designed to walk you through how to configure a dialup connection using the Windows Vista Operating System for use with the Digitalputty dialup services.
You should manually set the DNS server settings, however DNS Server settings are normally handed to your computer upon completeing a dialup connection with Digitalputty. The DNS server settings are provided in the tutorial, however you may want to print out our Quik Config support page as it contains all necessary DNS information and more to get you configured properly and online now! Also, you want look at a complete listing of our Statewide Dialup Numbers to get the correct dialup phone number for your location.
You must meet these minimum requirements before setting up a Windows Vista dialup connection:
  A. The Microsoft Windows Vista Operating System must be installed.
  B. Your Dial Up Modem must already be installed and functional.
  BEGIN SETUP

  1. Open the Start Menu and select "Connect to."

  2. Select the option to "Set up a connection or network."

  3. Select "Set up a dial-up connection" and click "next."

  4. Enter your local access number in the field labeled "Dial-up phone number." You can find your local access number using our number finder tool. Enter your digitalputty user name in the box labeled "User name" and your digitalputty password in the box labeled "Password." Once you have entered all that information, select the "Connect" button.

  5. Windows will now attempt to use your new dialup connection before saving your work. If you would like to interrupt this process and save, click the button labeled "Skip" below.

  6. If you skipped the initial connection attempt, or your attempt to connect otherwise failed, you will be presented with three options:
    • Try Again. This will simply instruct your computer to re-try the connection.
    • Diagnose the problem. If you did not intentionally interrupt the connection attempt, this may be a good option. Dialup diagnostics are beyond the scope of this document./
    • Set up the connection anyway. If you intentionally skipped the test connection, this is probably the option you were intending to use.

  7. Once your connection has been sucessfully created, you will get the following screen. Select the "close" button.

  8. To connect to the internet, click the Start Button, select "Connect to," and then select the connection that you just created.
