Windows Millennium Edition DUN Setup
This tutorial is designed to walk you through how to configure a dial up connection using the Windows Millennium Edition Operating System for use with the Digitalputty Dial Up services.
Please browse a complete listing of our Statewide Dial up Numbers to get the correct dial up phone number for your location.
You must meet these minimum requirements before setting up the Windows Millennium Edition dial up Networking:
  A. The Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition Operating System must be installed.
  B. Your Dial Up Modem must already be installed and functional.
  BEGIN SETUP

  1. Click on the Start button.


  2. Select Settings.


  3. Click on Dial-up Networking.



  4. Double Click on Make New Connection.



  5. Where it says Type a name for the computer you are dialing: enter digitalputty
    Verify you have the correct modem selected.
    Click Next



  6. Enter your area code in the area code field.
    Enter a Digitalputty Local Access Number in the Phone Number field.



  7. Click Finish.



  8. Now there should be a digitalputty icon in the Dial-Up Networking window.
    Right click on the digitalputty icon and select properties.



  9. If you are dialing in your area code, uncheck the 'Use country code and area code' box.



  10. Click the Networking tab.
    Only Enable software compression and TCP/IP should be checked.



  11. Click the Dialing tab.
    Check the box that says This is the default internet connection.
    Select Dial whenever a network connection is not present, as this allows you to connect from the web browser or email client.
    Uncheck Enable idle disconnect and Disconnect when connection may not be needed, as this will prevent unwanted disconnects.
    Click OK to finish.



  12. If you want a dial up networking shortcut on your desktop, right click on digitalputty in the Dial Up Networking folder and left click on Create Shortcut.
    You will be prompted to confirm that you want the shortcut on your desktop, click Yes.


  13. Close all windows and surf the net!
