This tutorial is designed to walk you through how to configure a dialup connection using the Windows XP Operating System for use with the Digitalputty dialup services.
You should manually set the DNS server settings, however
DNS Server settings are normally handed to your computer upon completeing
a dialup connection with Digitalputty. The DNS server settings are provided
in the tutorial, however you may want to print out our Quik
Config support page as it contains all necessary DNS information and
more to get you configured properly and online now! Also, you want look
at a complete listing of our Statewide Dialup Numbers to get the correct
dialup phone number for your location.
You must meet these minimum requirements before setting up a Windows XP dialup connection:
A. The Microsoft Windows XP Operating System must be installed.
B. Your Dial Up Modem must already be installed and functional.
BEGIN SETUP
Click on
start.
Click on Control Panel.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The default view is Catagory View (shown below)
If your control panel looks different, click HERE
Click on Network and Internet Connections
Click on Network Connections
Click on Create a new connection.
Click Next.
Select Connect to the internet
Click Next.
Select Set up my connection manually
Click Next.
Select Connect using dial-up modem
Click Next.
Enter digitalputty as your ISP Name
Click Next.
Get a phone number from our complete list of Statewide Dialup Numbers
Enter a Digitalputty dialup number where it says Phone number that is local for you.
Click Next.
Enter your username in the User name field.
Enter your password in the Password field.
Enter your password again in the Confirm password field.
Digitalputty recommends that you leave all boxes checked.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
You should now have a digitalputty icon under Dial-ip.
Opening either Internet Explorer or Outlook Express will automatically prompt to dial a connection.
